 The thesis studio aims to investigate the potential evolution of the currently unfashionable ‘walk-up’ style medium density housing type often referred to as “six-pack flats”[1]. The studio will involve researching the housing type, analysing the reasons for the type’s unpopularity and propose new and improved mutations aimed at affordable, sustainable densification and urban regeneration in the western suburbs of Melbourne.
